From Volleyball Courts to Wellness Warrior
Now, you might think I’ve always been a health guru, but here’s the plot twist – my love affair with intentional health and wellness? It’s only four years young! Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been an athlete since I could barely walk. Literally, I started at the ripe old age of 4 and never looked back. I even rocked it as a collegiate volleyball player until I was 23. Those were the days of scheduled practices, intense games, and a metabolism that could handle pretty much anything I threw at it.
But then came the curveball called “adulting.” Suddenly, gone were the days of built-in workouts and team nutritionists. I had to *gasp* prioritize working out and eating right all on my own. Talk about a wake-up call!
The Fashion-Fitness Connection
Before we dive deeper into my wellness journey, let’s talk fashion for a hot minute. With a fashion degree under my belt, I’ve always expressed myself through bold, colorful outfits. It’s like my personal mood ring, you know? And let me tell you, this love for vibrant self-expression has been a game-changer in my fitness journey too. Who says workout clothes have to be boring? Not this girl!

Now, let’s rewind to four years ago. Picture this: me, at my heaviest weight ever, feeling like absolute garbage. My energy was low, my confidence was shot, and I knew something had to change. That was my lightbulb moment. I realized that just because I used to be an athlete, doesn’t mean I automatically knew how to maintain a healthy lifestyle as an adult.
So, I did what any determined, slightly overwhelmed person would do – I dove headfirst into learning everything I could about nutrition, effective workouts, and sustainable healthy habits. And let me tell you, it’s been one heck of a journey!
Cracking the Code: My Wellness Strategies
Through trial and error (and believe me, there was plenty of error), I’ve developed some strategies that have been total game-changers for me. Here’s the inside scoop:
- Sunday Planning Sessions: Every Sunday, I map out my workouts for the week, scheduling them around my crazy entrepreneur/corporate work life. This way, I’m not scrambling to fit in exercise or making excuses to skip it.
- Morning Workouts: I’ve found that I prefer morning workouts. It’s like, “Let’s crush this before my brain realizes what’s happening!” ๐ But I’ve also learned to be flexible because, let’s face it, life doesn’t always cooperate with our plans.
- Meal Prep Magic: Meal planning has become my new superpower! I plan my meals for the week, ensuring I have healthy options ready to go. This has been crucial in hitting my nutritional goals and avoiding the temptation of unhealthy quick fixes.
- Tracking Macros: I now track my proteins, carbs, and fats like a boss. It was overwhelming at first, but it’s become second nature and has made a huge difference in my body composition and energy levels.
- Consistent Supplements: I kick-start my mornings with my Arbonne greens (hello, 36 fruits and veggies, plus all those other goodies like digestive enzymes and probiotics!). I also never skip my protein shake, even if I’m having a high-protein breakfast.
